When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.
And when life gives you 100 hilarious blow-up vessels, you make... the world's greatest inflatable boat race.
Or at least, that's the mantra of the weekend-trepreneurs out in Manly Beach, Australia who've hosted the annual Manly Inflatable Boat Race for the past 12 years.
Held in February, the charitable event (your $35 entry fee goes to a pair of charities, plus the Local Surf Life Saving Club) sends inflatables of all shapes (lobster! watermelon! purple Loch Ness monster!) and sizes (BOUNCY CASTLE WOOOOO!) on a 3/5-mile, open-ocean sprint out to a buoy, with the title going to the fastest vessel to make it all the way back to the beach.
Participants are allowed to use plastic oars to paddle, costumes are basically required (as are dope swim trunks), water guns are permitted (ESPECIALLY 19L ONES), and "Tomfoolery" is encouraged. Spencerfoolery, however, is not.
