That's right, you could be riding shotgun in the 6th Annual Ginormous Pumpkin Regatta (put on by the fine folks at Mountain Valley Seed Co) as soon as this weekend (THIS WEEKEND) in South Jordan, Utah.
Here's how it works: Pumpkins weighing between 500 and 1,500 pounds are hollowed out, fashioned into boats, and then fork lifted into Oquirrh Lake. Once there, pumpkin jockeys throw on awesome costumes (THIS ONE), board their respective Boat-o-Lanterns, and hope the things don't sink.

Upwards of 20 races take place on the Northern portion of the lake, a trophy goes to the fastest time, then they hilariously donate the giant gourd boats to the elephants at Utah's Hogle Zoo so they can do this a bunch:
